Communication is Key
We provide support to our students in their acquisition of functional communication skills across a variety of settings. Some students receive individual support to address special goals created by their home school districts. Other students receive support through programs created by the staff at John Paul II Center.
The focus of speech language support is to teach our students to interact appropriately in school, at home, and within the community.
We teach the students to use language to start conversations, respond to questions, request preferred activities, reject non-preferred activities, and to comment with friends and staff.
Speech therapy is offered in 20-minute group sessions, once a week per student.
