Colloquialisms are defined as the following:
An informal expression that is more often used in casual conversation than in formal speech or writing.
At John Paul II Center for Special Learning, we (the staff) are in a unique position. From the moment the doors open up until the last student steps foot onto his or her bus, we are constantly surrounded with friendly, kind, and caring students. During this time (roughly seven hours), we have the opportunity to be present and experience our students’ learning, growth, and social interactions.
Whether we’re in the office or classroom, we consistently hear student to student compliments, offerings of help, and cheers for support. We believe this is an aspect of the John Paul II Center that should be shared with everyone because our students have so much to offer the world.
We got to thinking: “Since these acts of kindness have the ability to brighten our days, how can we share these little tidbits with everyone?”
And thus, Hallway Colloquialisms were born as a way for us to “share the love”! Hallway Colloquialisms, by our own creation, are defined as the following:
Expressions of kindness used by our students, most commonly heard in hallway conversations.
So, be on the lookout for these kind little offerings, as they are sure to bring a smile to your face!
