Technology has become an everyday part of life. As things evolve, we always find new ways to include tech in our learning at JPII because of its additional benefits.

Last week, we put some of our technology to great use as our Secondary class Skyped into Ms. Forkin’s Kindergarten class at Immaculate Conception Academy for her Guest Reader program. It was a great experience for both classes.

Our setup included the use of a SMARTboard, laptop with a webcam, and of course, Skype. By utilising this system, Secondary was able to read to our friends at Immaculate Conception Academy on a day that was otherwise to busy to actually make a trip to the school. While we value the impact of face to face communication and camaraderie, in this instance, technology was the perfect way to accomplish a task that was otherwise out of the question due to time restraints and tight schedules.
